Interstellar Highway Robbery Revised!
Right!
First of all, if you’re seeing this post chances are you followed IHR, and I just wanted to say - thanks for sticking around!
It’s been almost a week since the game was released now, so it’s the perfect time to upload the promised revised version! This is in no way the final update to the game, as I want to REALLY expand it, it’s more akin to making the game closer to what I envisioned the on-time version to be. I think you’ll like what I did, and if you don’t - do tell me what you’d change if it was up to you.
The most requested feature is here - actual audio! The SFX are nothing special for now, but I think they get the job done. The music I’m particularly fond of, since it has just the amount of energy I wanted it to have.
As to what’s gonna happen to the game now… I wanna add more content, expand the gameplay loop a bit and smooth everything out, if only a bit. I’ll go into more detail in a future devlog, one that’ll come in a couple days.
Anyway, enjoy and thanks for sticking around!
Here’s a list of the most important and noticeable changes
- Added green lights above doors leading to the helm
- Made all lootboxes glow from! a distance - these changes will hopefully make it easier for players to find their way inside ships
- Added more descriptive info popups - it’s better to tell the player too much than too little, especially in a game like this
- Made info popups last longer the more text they have - to make it easier to read. No font changes YET
- Gave enemies a different fog colour, making them visible at greater distances - this should help with those moments where a bullet comes out of nowhere and ends your run
- Lowered the initial oxygen level inside the ship by 50%
- Made Supply Boxes (the blue ones) give you 10 oxygen upon opening them - these two changes should add more adrenaline to the gameplay while making you focus more on looting. I tried it and found it added a lot to the challenge and fun - I hope you do too!
- Made all non-essential doors randomly start closed or open, instead of all of them being always open/closed
- Made crates spawn in random locations on ships - these two should hopefully make entering new ships a bit more interesting
- Made the player take damage when they’re inside the pod’s impact zone during the collision - this was intended to make it into the original version, it just somehow slipped between the cracks
- Added even fancier head bobbing to make it look even more dope - heck yeah
- Removed ceiling lamps - I figured they made the screen just a bit too messy, especially for something as inconsequential as a ceiling texture.
And as for bugfixes I only have one for now:
- Removed the crate that everybody was getting stuck in
